Flooding inside Saint Mark's Cathedral, Venice, by Francesca P

The high water in Venice is more and more damaging and common. Unfortunately, Venice is a New Orleans waiting to happen. In this photo, taken only a few days ago, the bookstore inside the Cathedral looks out on several inches of water. San Marco is the lowest place in Venice and floods every time there is acqua alta. That used to be only a few days a decade and is now almost two months a year.
