Many American airmen were stationed near Bury Saint Edmunds, Suffolk, England, during World War II. It was a convenient staging point for air raids into Germany. This is a memorial in the churchyard at Bury Saint Edmunds. Someone has left a wreath of paper poppies, a British symbol of veterans' memorial.
